I visited the Con Joubert Bird Sanctuary (chapter 78 in Birding Gauteng) on the west rand in March 2010. It was a cold and wet rainy day by the time we arrived at the spot, but we did enjoy looking at some of the birds that are on show in their aviary (Lemon Dove, Zebra Finch, Turkey and Quail). I also experimented for the first time with capturing Swallows in flight - and nearly got whiplash in the process. Of 100 shots these 3 were the only ones worth anything.
