Northcliff Hill

In the northern suburbs of Johannesburg, where I live, there is a suburb known as Northcliff that is situated around an impressive hill offering stunning sights of the city of Johannesburg as well as the view to the north of the city. Here are some scenery shots of this impressive area - where we have seen Cape Eagle-Owl many different kinds of Swallows and Swifts and in fact, all of the 36 birds that I have so far seen in my garden.

Here is a selection of photos of birds that I have taken at my home - on the Northcliff Hill:

Here is a full list of the birds that I have seen in our garden so far: Barbet Crested; Barbet Red-collared; Bishop Southern Red; Bulbul Dark-capped; Coucal Burchell's; Crow Pied; Cuckoo Diderick; Cuckoo Red-chested; Dove Laughing; Dove Red-eyed; Egret Cattle; Finch Red-headed; Fiscal Common; Goose Egyptian; Guinefowl Helmeted; Heron Grey; Hoopoe Green Wood; Ibis Hadeda; Lourie; Mousebird Red-faced; Mousebird Speckled; Mynah Common; Pigeon Speckled; Robin-Chat Cape; Sparrow Cape; Sparrow House; Sparrow Southern Grey-headed; Sunbird White-bellied; Swallow Lesser-striped; Swift African Palm; Swift Little; Thick-knee Spotted; Thrush Karoo; Wagtail Cape and Weaver Southern Masked.

On the way back home from a birding trip we pulled into our suburb in the north of Joburg and spotted a "White Guineafowl". I see that Roberts' says that it is a Domestic Hybrid Helmeted Guineafowl.
