Umdoni Park

On a trip to visit family during the first week of July 2010 we stopped off at the Umdoni Park reserve in Pennington (about 70 kilometers from Durban). Here we saw Knysna Turaco, Long-crested Eagle, Brown-hooded Kingfisher, Olive Sunbird, Collared Sunbird, Cape Wagtail, Sombre Greenbul, Common Fiscal, Red-capped Robin-Chat (a lifer for me), Thick-billed Weaver, and an unidentified raptor soaring high over above us. This is by no means an indication of all the bird species at this delightful spot around a golf estate with numerous trails that can be walked. It was a gloomy overcast day and this greatly hindered out ability to capture birds:
